Identity theft has become a large problem and as this crime is becoming more prevalent so is the need to correct document shredding. If you do not have many documents, such as family documents, then all you may need is your own personal shredder. Cross cut shredders cut paper both lengthwise and widthwise and produces paper that looks like confetti. Strip cut shredders simply shred papers lengthwise producing strips. The amount of shredding you need, will determine the machine as different machines can handle varying amounts of work before needing to cool off. You also may need to purchase lubricating oil to make sure paper is threaded throw the machine without getting stuck.
